Guess what??????????? :)

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/norwoodtwins2

Cd #2 is now available on cdbaby.com! (In just a few days, they will have it stocked so that you can purchase a physical copy, but for the moment, it is only available digitally) Soon it will be available on iTunes as well!!! I'm so excited for you guys to hear our music. I'll admit, we got carried away writing the songs for this cd. Most cd's have nine or ten songs, but not this one. Our cd has seventeen! We just lovvvve to write music. For me, writing songs is kind of like writing in a diary, except this "diary" is read to the world. :)  Every song on our cd is a true story. If you'd like to hear the story behind any of these songs, please let me know. I'd be glad to fill you in on the juicy details. :)   The link to cdbaby.com is above this post. Enjoy!!!!!

More artwork from Erica (:

Here's a set of three paintings/transfers that I made. They have some pretty little beads on them as accents (: My favorite pic is the one at the top. It's got indians at the top, a peppermint lollipop on the left, and a cute little girl at the bottom. I textured the bottom part of that canvas to appear as if the girl is wiping away at the painting.

This next one is a self portrait that I had to paint for class. I thought it would be more interesting to paint an Elizabethan style portrait with the bright washed out/serious look. I listened to Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" the whole time I painted it...I like to think it came through in the painting (:

I painted this one last week after being inspired by a weird dream I had. It's about 2 1/4 x3 feet. I painted it with acrylic paint, but I also used red, yellow & blue tissue paper and lots of newspaper. The mountain is entirely made of newspaper and so is the large tree on the right. Then I painted over them with black, white and gray paint. Also, the horse's shadow and the sun/moon/planet thingy are drawn with oil pastels. I still may make a few changes to it before I gloss the whole thing, but I haven't decided yet...any suggestions? (:

Okay, so this one's pretty wild. I had to make a name painting. So the letters of my name are hidden on the naked disproportional girl. Haha "E" is in the hair, "R" is the neck, "I" is the boob and arm, "C" is the hips and "A" is the little thong. Haha Then for my last name, Norwood, I attached a piece of wood with big sparkly letters. "NOR"-"WOOD!" Haha Not my best artwork, but weird enough to Maybe glance at Once (:

Here's an oil painting on wood of my beautiful friend, Katie! I found a pic of her on facebook and painted it using oil paint (:

Here's a mirror that I made using ribbon and silver lame'. I sinched the lame' with white thread after attaching it to a piece of foamcore, then I placed it inside of a foamcore frame I cut and then wrapped and stapled ribbon around. I made it for a Design 2 project where I had to make a "soft statement." It's exactly to scale with a mirror I bought at Hobby Lobby. My "soft statement" was about women and their distorted images of themselves, like thinking you're overweight or that something is wrong with your face...It's nice looking into This mirror when you're feeling ugly, because you can Barely see your reflection! ha (: It's a little over 1x1 foot.

I carved this out of balsa foam. I wasn't sure what to carve with, so I used 2 different screwdrivers. They worked pretty well (: Then I painted it with white acrylic paint and glossed the whole thing! (:

More than just wood scraps!

This little 1.5x4 inch block of wood was destined for the trash, but I saved it's little life! I sanded it, glossed it, painted it, then transferred this cute little image onto it along with some book pages. But don't worry, I read the pages first, and they weren't worth keeping (:

Erica's Wood Carving (:

I carved this out of unusually hard balsa wood. It started off as a solid block, and then after quite a bit of work (this is the first & only carving I've ever done) it turned into this! I tried to make it look like metal that was corroding, so I picked the inside with a little scoopy wood carving tool.....It was tedious. Then I sanded it 1 zillion times. Whew! Then I painted the whole thing using copper spray paint and teal and green acrylic. Last, I glossed it about 5 times with clear acrylic spray gloss...Now it sits hidden somewhere on my dresser (:

More Mixed Media Paintings by Erica (:

These all started as acrylic gel transfers, then I drew on them with oil pastels and then painted on them with acrylic paint. They're all painted on wood canvases. Oh, and some have pretty little jewels on them (: The one at the bottom has tall trees on it with little birds flying around. The one second from the bottom has boats on the bottom half, and the one above that is probably my favorite. It's from a Botticelli painting. I cut the two women out before I transferred the image, and also transferred torn pages from a book over dried blue paint to create a sky full of backwards words. You can see an image on the lady on left's head. It's a smaller image of the entire picture. When transferring my image on, I left that bit of the page on there so it would appear as if we could see into the lady's mind (: If you want to know anything about the top 2 images, just ask (: And if you'd like to know How to make paintings like this, ask me. I'll give you a detailed explanation (:

Boredom ain't such a bad thang! (:

Well, last week I got a bit bored and decided to paint a pair of old black shoes. my aunt Barbara gave them to me a while back, and I really liked them, but somehow never ended up wearing them. But I definitely will Now! I painted bunnies on them and added glitter and sparkles (: Yaaaay! (: I can't wait to wear them to work! I teach at an art school in Southlake, and my students are ages 3-6. I have a feeling they'll like my shoes (:

Some of Erica's artwork (:

Here are three paintings that form a set. I painted them for a friend's apartment a few weeks ago. There's no paper on the canvas's surface. I transferred images out of a book using the acrylic gel transfer process and then painted over them to spice em' up a bit! They wanted mainly black, white and gray with a hint of teal, so that's what I did. BUT I am getting a bit picky about my color schemes, so I added a bit of yellow/gold and red on the last canvas (the barely visible honeycomb) to complete the triadic color scheme. Yaaay! (: My favorite part is on the second canvas. I Love the scuba divers. I think they turned out cute (: haha

Some more of my artwork :)

This is Alicia again. :)  I took some more pictures of some of my artwork. I love using bright bold colors. Sometimes mixing colors can express an idea far better than an actual picture, or at least that's how I feel. :)

This cross picture was really fun and really easy to make. I went to Hobby Lobby (when all the crosses were 50% off) and I bought a few different kinds of metal crosses. This cross was my favorite because it was so elaborate. First, I blobbed baby blue paint all over the canvas, then dropped little blobs of white, dark blue, and gray in random sections across the canvas. Then I used a sponge to mash all the colors together. Starting with big blobs of paint made it easy to create texture across the whole canvas. Then, before the paint dried, I laid the cross down, spray painted over it with white spray paint, carefully picked up the cross, and it was finished! This painting took no time at all, but has turned out to be one of my favorites!

This one was really fun and easy to make as well. I just propped the canvas up at an angle, and starting at the top of the canvas, poured out blobs of paint, letting it run down the canvas. I used acrylics and spray paint, and the different textures of the paint helped in adding dimension to the final product. :)

Now this last one is just a picture I took from inside my car. I thought the water droplets on the window made such a pretty picture. I really want to frame this and put it on my mantle!

"I'll Be Waiting"

This is the second song I (Alicia) ever wrote. (Unless you count when I was a kid. I wrote all sorts of "songs." haha)  But anyway, I was just sitting in my living room one day, listening to Hanson (Yes, Hanson is awesome) and I thought, "I'm gonna write a country song today!" So I did. And here it is. :)

p.s. This song will be available on iTunes in about two weeks. I'll keep you updated!

Another Music Video "Take Me Away" :)

Okay, so there's kind of a funny story behind this song. My husband and I (this is Alicia btw) always go to Red River, New Mexico. It is the perfect place to get away and escape reality for a while. We go in the summertime and in the winter anytime we get the chance, and we've been five times now since we've been married. (We've only been married two and a half years.) Well, we decided to bring some of our friends along on our getaway and this time it was winter. That meant we were all going to go skiing. Unfortunately there was a blizzard on the mountain, but we decided to ski anyway. I'm not tough. Not at all, so skiing down a freezing mountain in a blizzard was not a good idea for me. Anyway, by the time I got to the bottom of the mountain I was miserable. My brave husband and friends decided to go back up the ski lift and ski down again, but not me! I went to our cabin and watched some good ole' cable tv and painted my nails, and during that time, I kept thinking about my misery going down the mountain....Sooooo I wrote a song called "Take Me Away." So here it is! :)

A song from our first cd. :)

This song is called "Masterpiece." It was on our first cd. We really love this song and hope you'll like it too. :)

You can buy the single on iTunes or buy the whole cd at www.cdbaby.com.

****Alicia's art****

This is some of my artwork. (Alicia) I will be posting some of Erica's artwork soon. My style is pretty simple, but if you like wild and crazy, you'll love Erica's art! She is a little more elaborate and eccentric than me.  :)

Our new funny song. :)

Okay, so I (Alicia) wrote a drinking song. It pretty much rocks. Plus, anyone who is from Texas and sings country HAS to have a drinking song on their cd, right? haha  Well, we plan on making a music video for this song very soon, and I can't wait! As soon as it is completed I will post it. :) But for now, here's a youtube video with the lyrics. (In case you feel like singing along)  :)

We made a music video. :)

This song is called "I Can't Forget." I (Alicia) find that sometimes it's easiest to write music when you let your emotions take control. Somehow, when I do that, the song just seems to write itself. This song is very sad, yet moving. Just watch the video and see for yourself! :)

Hey everyone! :)

Soooo we're new to this and trying to figure it all out still. We have created this blog for our band, "The Norwood Twins," but also because we love all the arts and would love to read other people's blogs on topics such as music, art, writing, fashion, and everything else in between! As soon as we figure out how to work this blog, we'll be posting music and artwork. :)
